What I was supposed to be learning this week, in addition to Dust in the Wind, I was meant to be learning Wild Thing, or at least the chords that make up the introduction—A, D, and E—as well as the strumming technique. In fact, I spent most of my time trying to find chords and pick appropriately. Without much success, I might add.
Happily, though, they don't hurt as much as they used to.
In any case, here's a sample of what I am NOT aiming for, but love deeply . . .
Now to practice like crazy until I have to leave for my lesson . . .
A joke i recently heard about rock guitar:
ReplyDeleteA pupil starts learning the guitar. On the first lesson, the teacher shows him an E chord and says,'Just practice that all week until you're confident with it'.
The next week, the pupil returns and plays an E chord. The teacher says, 'Now, I'll show you an A chord'.
'Anything else?', says the pupil.
'No', replies the teacher. 'Just that. Practice the A chord until you can play it'.
The same thing the following week. 'Just the D chord until you can play it'.
The pupil returns the following week and shows him the D chord, as well as the A and the E that he's already learnt.
'For next week', says the teacher, 'I'm going to...'
The pupil cuts in.
'I'm sorry but I can't come next week'.
'Why not?' asks the teacher.
'I've got a gig'.
Brilliant Adam, thanks! Would you mind if I posted that? It deserves more than to be buried here in the comments . . .
